If you're buying new, get the iPad Pro. The iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation) is no longer sold by Apple.

Excellent, but more power than most people need. iPad Air saves money.

The iPad Pro is 3 years newer, so it will get software updates for longer and holds its value better. If your iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation) still works well, there's no rush, but don't buy one new.
